History
Effy was rescued from the Cluj-Napoca public shelter, where she spent a year in a kennel so small she could barely turn around. We don’t know exactly what happened to her ear or half her tail, but it looks like they were sadly cut by cruel people. Despite this, Effy trusts humans completely and is full of love to give. She joined our care and quickly showed her playful, affectionate personality. Friendly with humans and other dogs alike, Effy is a gentle giant with a heart as big as her paws. She’s ready to find her forever home and shower her humans with cuddles, kisses, and endless love.
Personality
Effy is loyal, affectionate, and hilariously cute without even trying. She loves belly rubs, cozy snuggles, and occasional zoomies in the yard. Friendly with all dogs, polite with cats, and patient with humans who take a few seconds too long to open her treat bag.
Her “flaw”? She’s tall. Everything else? Perfect. Calm, playful, and ready to melt your heart at a single look. She’s playful yet gentle, happy to share space, and will happily supervise other dogs’ playtime. Every interaction is full of joy, wagging tails, and a little clumsy love.
She loves human company, games, and treats, and never forgets a friendly face. Effy’s calm personality makes her the perfect companion for families, singles, and anyone who enjoys long walks, belly rubs, and lazy afternoons together.
Behaviour Around Other Animals
Effy is the ultimate diplomat. She plays nicely with dogs big and small and stays calm around cats. Polite, respectful, and knows how to share toys without grumbling. She’s a gentle friend who loves company and keeps her cool in new situations.
Behaviour Around Children
Effy is great with children of all ages. She is calm, patient, and friendly, even around louder or more energetic kids. Sudden movements aren’t her favourite, but children who are kind and respectful of her space quickly become her friends. She’s playful yet gentle, responds beautifully to soft voices, and enjoys calm, loving family time.
Leash Behaviour
Walks nicely on the lead, tail wagging, happily sniffing every interesting smell along the way. She may sometimes pull with excitement because she really wants to say hello and get pets from people. Occasionally, she lets out a little cry when passing humans or other dogs — it’s just her way of expressing enthusiasm and friendliness, not fear or reactivity.

What Makes Him/Her Unhappy/Nervous?

Size
Giant breed
48 kg. 75 cm height
Energy Rating
5 = very high ; 1 = very low
3/5 — calm, yet playful when the mood strikes. She enjoys gentle zoomies, outdoor walks, and play, but is perfectly happy curling up next to her favourite human for hours and sleeping in late.
Other Quirks
Effy has some signature moves: she gives paw very enthusiastically when excited (sometimes repeatedly, just to be sure you noticed), and she can pop up on her back legs like a happy little bear when greeting her favourite people. She’s expressive, joyful, and wears her excitement right on her paws.

Health status
Effy has undergone a full mastectomy, and histopathology confirmed a mixed mammary carcinoma. The tumour was completely removed with clean margins, no tumour emboli were identified, and the mitotic rate was low — all findings that are considered favourable for long-term prognosis. At this time, no further oncological treatment is required, and regular monitoring is recommended.
Effy was also diagnosed with urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence (USMI), a common and manageable condition in large female dogs. Extensive diagnostic testing ruled out kidney disease, diabetes, cystitis, and other tumours. She is currently stable on phenylpropanolamine (PPA) and will receive supportive urinary supplements, with routine follow-ups to monitor her response to treatment.
