Tuti’s journey began with pain and uncertainty, but ended exactly as we had hoped: safe, loved and adopted.

She was found with a devastating leg injury — the wound was open, severely infected and had gone without proper treatment. After initially receiving inadequate care, her condition continued to deteriorate until we were finally able to bring her into our care.

Her tiny body was exhausted, but somehow, Tuti still greeted people with soft purrs and trusting eyes.

At the veterinary clinic, the necrotic and infected tissue had to be surgically removed. What followed was a long recovery involving antibiotics, pain management, regular dressings and constant monitoring.

Her heavily bandaged little leg made her look like a tiny mummy, inspiring her name: Tuti, after Tutankhamun.

Despite everything she had endured, she remained extraordinarily affectionate. As the infection disappeared and healthy tissue began to form, her personality blossomed too. Soon there were tiny zoomies, cozy naps, head bumps and purrs that seemed to start the moment someone walked into the room.

And during her recovery, Tuti found someone else to love.

She formed a beautiful bond with her foster sister Hermione. The two girls slept together, groomed each other and became such close companions that imagining them separated became increasingly difficult.

Thankfully, we never had to.

Tuti and Hermione were adopted together by a wonderful family in Cluj-Napoca. Hermione is now called Kiki, and the two girls get to continue the friendship that began in foster care for the rest of their lives.

The tiny “mummy” who once arrived with a severely infected leg is now healthy, safe and deeply loved.

Tuti healed because people chose not to give up on her.

And in the end, she received something even better than a miracle.

She got a family and she got to bring her best friend home with her.
