Lyra’s story began alongside six tiny brothers, abandoned in the yard of an apartment building and left to survive on their own.

The kittens were weak, painfully thin and covered in fleas and ticks. They had clearly been living in terrible conditions and needed help quickly.

Thankfully, someone noticed them.

After receiving veterinary care, proper food and plenty of love, Lyra moved into foster care, where the frightened little kitten slowly began to blossom.

And underneath all that uncertainty was the gentlest little soul — with the heart of a poet and the chewing habits of a goat.

Lyra was sensitive and thoughtful, preferring to take her time before deciding the world was safe. Loud noises were suspicious. Vacuum cleaners were almost certainly plotting something.

But once she trusted you, her soft side appeared completely: quiet purrs, cuddles, sunny lap naps and her adorable habit of making biscuits in the air when she was especially happy.

She loved other animals too, happily sharing her life with cats and dogs. But one friendship became particularly important.

Charlie.

The gentle girl and the resident chaos coordinator became inseparable foster siblings. They played together, slept together and somehow complemented each other perfectly.

So when a family in Germany chose them, they chose both.

Lyra and Charlie were adopted together.

The tiny kitten once abandoned with six brothers never has to wonder where she belongs again.

Today, Lyra has a family, her best friend beside her, plenty of soft places to nap and, presumably, enough cardboard to keep her questionable culinary interests satisfied.

Lyra is home.
