Dottie’s story began in a way no puppy’s story should.

She was abandoned on the street at only four weeks old, far too young to be separated from her mother and completely unable to survive on her own. At an age when she should have been warm and protected alongside her mom and siblings, Dottie was left to fend for herself.

Sadly, stories like hers are still far too common in Romania, where countless unwanted litters are born because people fail to neuter their pets - and the puppies and kittens are often the ones who pay the price.

Thankfully, Dottie was found in time and brought into our care.

From that moment on, everything changed. She was given proper food, veterinary care, safety, socialization and, most importantly, the chance to simply be a puppy.

And she absolutely embraced that chance.

Over the following weeks, our tiny, vulnerable puppy grew into a healthy, confident, affectionate and wonderfully playful young dog. She learned to trust, made friends easily and became a very social little girl who loves people and gets along beautifully with both dogs and cats.

But rescue was never meant to be Dottie’s final destination. The goal was always a family of her very own.

After 65 days in our care, that day came.

Dottie travelled from Romania to Germany, where her new family was waiting to welcome her home.

The puppy who was once abandoned before she was even old enough to understand the world now has people who chose her, a place where she belongs and an entire life ahead of her.

This is why we rescue.
