Permanently in our care, in a forever type of foster

Istoric

Coco is a 17-year-old senior kitty — tiny, fragile, and incredibly strong. She comes from a colony of cats in Câmpenești, where we are currently carrying out neutering and medical support efforts.

When she was found, she was in a terrible state: severe pneumonia, serious infection, and completely unable to eat on her own for almost a month. She required an esophageal feeding tube and intensive care just to keep her alive. But she fought and won.

Due to her advanced age, fragile condition, and complex medical history, we made the decision to keep Coco in our permanent care, offering her safety and comfort for the rest of her life. Her past was not kind — she was attacked by dogs and most likely hit by a car many years ago. What is certain is that she needed help, protection, and compassion… but life did not give it in time. Her body still carries the marks of everything she survived, but so does her quiet resilience and will to keep going.

Personalitate

Despite everything she has endured, Coco remains incredibly gentle and sweet. She is a soft, quiet little soul who doesn’t ask for much — just warmth, safety, and a peaceful place to rest. There is something deeply touching about her presence, like she speaks without words: every slow blink, every tiny movement tells a story of resilience. Coco is not the loud, dramatic type; she is the “sit quietly next to you and trust you with her whole heart” type. She enjoys calm companionship and feels most comfortable when life is slow and predictable. Even though her body is fragile, her spirit has an unexpected strength — like a tiny candle that refuses to go out, no matter how many winds it has faced. Coco doesn’t chase attention, but she accepts love with quiet gratitude, as if she understands its value better than most. She is the kind of cat who reminds you that survival itself can be beautiful, and that even the smallest lives can carry the biggest stories.

Comportamentul în jurul altor animale

Coco prefers calm environments and does best without young or energetic animals around her. She enjoys peaceful company but values her space and quiet. At her age and condition, she thrives in a slow, stress-free setting where she can simply rest and feel safe.

Comportamentul în jurul copiilor

Coco prefers quiet, stable environments. She feels safest in calm surroundings where noise and sudden movements are limited, allowing her to relax and enjoy her peaceful routine without stress.

Starea de sănătate

Coco’s condition is complex and requires ongoing care and monitoring.

X-rays revealed severe damage to her left knee, with changes that may even suggest a tumor. She also has an old hip fracture that never healed properly — part of the bone is displaced, and a fragment remains loose in the joint.

She has likely lived with chronic pain for many years.

In addition, Coco suffers from:

  • Severe spinal degeneration

  • An old sternum injury (fractured or displaced inward)

  • Lungworm infection affecting her lungs

  • Chronic constipation, likely due to pain when using the litter box

  • Advanced degeneration in her right hock, affecting mobility and comfort

Recently, Coco has also been diagnosed with bronchopneumonia and anemia. Given her age and unknown history, veterinarians are carefully monitoring her condition and have not ruled out possible underlying causes.

She is currently hospitalized, receiving daily treatment and constant care.

Coco is not available for adoption unless it is someone around our city that wants to offer her good care in her last years. She will remain under our protection for the rest of her life, receiving the care she always deserved.

She has started pain management and ongoing treatment, and we are doing everything possible to give her comfort and dignity in her senior years.

Her medical investigations have already reached approximately 800 euro, and costs continue due to hospitalization, treatment, and specialized care.
