Lyra’s story began in a way no kitten should ever experience — abandoned with her six tiny brothers in the yard of an apartment building, left to fend for themselves. They were weak, painfully thin, covered in fleas and ticks, and had clearly endured harsh conditions. The smell alone told us they had likely been living in filth.

Thankfully, a kind-hearted friend found them and got them to safety. After receiving medical care and lots of love at our vet clinic, Lyra came into our foster care — and that’s where her transformation began.

At first, she was shy and cautious, a quiet little soul who blinked up at us with wide, wondering eyes. But with patience, warmth, and a few soft blankets, she slowly began to trust. Her tiny purrs grew stronger, her steps more confident, and one day she started to play — batting at toys with surprising elegance, as if rediscovering joy itself.

Lyra is the definition of gentleness wrapped in fur. She loves to nap in the sun, purr in your arms, and knead the air while dreaming happy kitten dreams. She’s calm and affectionate, but she also has a quirky side — she’s been known to taste-test cardboard and paper like a tiny goat in disguise.

She gets along beautifully with other cats and even dogs, seeking their company and curling up nearby as if they make her feel safer. But fostering Lyra wasn’t always simple — because we had other animals too, we often had to separate them, manage playtimes, and balance everyone’s comfort. Still, we never gave up on her. Watching her bloom from a fragile, frightened kitten into a confident, purring sweetheart made every bit of effort worthwhile.

And then came the best part — Lyra was adopted!

She found her forever home, where she now spends her days basking in love, sunshine, and the calm she always deserved. Her journey from abandonment to safety, from fear to trust, has come full circle. And what made us even happier - she was adopted together with her foster brother Charlie. They are a perfect match and love each other deeply,

Eighty-seven days of healing, growing, purring — and finally, finding home.
